LS Sensors

LS MAF Sensors

The LS engine family utilized 5 Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor designs, most notably the early 3-pin and 5-pin "tube style" sensors found on 1998–2002 Camaros and 1999–2007 Trucks. This truck sensor featured a tongue style 5 pin connector, that the center projects past the outside of the connector housing. Later a unique hybrid style sensor was introduced on late 2007 (new body) through early 2009 trucks, featuring a removable round cartridge held by an internal clip rather than hold down bolts like the modern card sensors have. This hybrid style sensor was the first to adopt the modern 5 pin connector seen on newer Truck Card and LS3 style sensors. Even though these 3 sensors can plug into your harness, they will not work due to all 3 having different wiring pinouts so they are not interchangeable unless you use one of our MAF sensor wire adapters. We have a full line of adapters harnesses available for any sensor upgrade combination.

For high performance applications, the modern "card style" LS3/LS7 sensor is the industry standard. Switching to the LS3 sensor allows you to build a custom air intake, that is not restricted to tubing diameters. We have weld bungs for all LS MAF sensors and also MAF plugs if you are moving your sensor to another location in the intake system. If you are adding a supercharger, we recommend relocating the Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor into the supercharger so you can accurately measure post intercooler temperatures while still maintaining the MAF signal. Any of the LS MAF sensors allow for the IAT signal to be relocated. See our handy quick reference guide below to find the wiring adapter, extension or sensor that you need for your ride.
