8HP Transmission Fill Port Adapter Tool

This billet aluminum adapter tool makes filling your 8HP transmission easy!  To use, start by removing the transmission fill plug.  Next screw this adapter in place of the factory fill plug then attach fluid pump hose to adapter.  Fill the fluid with the engine running at operating temperature, then while on level ground.  Fill the transmission fluid until drain-back hole has trasmission fluid coming out steady, which indicates fluid level is full.  Remove adapter and re-install factory drain fill plug.

Here is the process if using a new transmission or rebuild. Fill the torque converter then install converter onto the transmission (typically there is around .06-.1" gap from bellhousing to torque converter when the converter is fully installed. The converter is inboard of the bellhousing. Next install the transmission and fill the transmission with the engine off. Now start the engine and with foot on the brakes, run the transmission through reverse and drive. Refill the transmission, the run the engine and bring the transmission temperature to over 100°F degrees and refill the transmission. Put the fill plug back in the transmission and run the transmission through the gears and refill one more time just to verify.
